Funeral Services for Mr. David Charles Whipple, 58, of East Dublin, will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 11 AM at the Everlasting Gospel Non-Denominational Church, 1300 South Jefferson Street, Dublin. Reverend Douglas Stanley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Whipple, who was born on December 5, 1955, to Rev. James and Mrs. Alease (Alice) Whipple, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Willie Ben Whipple, Coty Lee Whipple, Rosie Marie Whipple, Gerry Jean Swint and Betty Lou Houston.

Mr. Whipple, who was a retired certified cement finisher until his retirement three years ago, began work at age fifteen. He helped build the interstate highways through the Carolinas, Georgia, and Louisiana.

He really loved gardening, sitting on the porch of his recently-acquired home, and making his loved ones laugh. He was known for imparting words of wisdom into the lives of those who would listen. He was studious of the Word and shared what he would learn. He joined the Jordan Stream Baptist Church in Toomsboro, Georgia, as a child.

His life’s joy was his children, grandchildren and his entire family through whom his legacy lives on, including his two sons, David Jermaine (Yonika Marshall) Whipple and Reginald Allen (Tyronda Rozier) Whipple, Sr., both of Dublin; children he reared and loved as his own, Jessie (Prina) Spikes of Macon, Chavis Hawkins of Mitchellville, Maryland and Nikia (KiKi) Allen of Dublin; brother, Willie James Whipple of Jeffersonville; sisters, Annie Bell (Rev. Douglas) Stanley and Eleanoris Coney, both of Dublin; step-sister, Maxine of Fort Wayne, Indiana; twenty grandchildren; special friend, Angela Torreney; and several devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Mr. Whipple will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends at 25 Chase Drive, East Dublin, and at the Dudley Funeral Home on Friday, 6-7 PM.
