Marie Thomas

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie E. Thomas, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, December 21, at 11:00 am at the First African Baptist Church 405 Telfair Street in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Church Cemetery in Dublin. Reverend Milton Hughes will officiate.

Mrs. Thomas, who passed on December 12, was born on July 13, 1929, to the late Oliver and Willie B Dixon-Edmond, Sr. She joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an ealry age and later joined Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until health issues prevailed.

She was preceded in death by her husand, Buster Thomas, ten brothers and three sisters. She was also preceded in death by one child, Robert Gaston; two grandchildren, Shavinsky Gaston and Sharon Evans and one great grandchild, Gabriel "PJ" Primus, Jr.

Mrs. Thomas leaves to mourn five children, Andrew (Mary) Gaston, Roslyn (Robert) O'Neal, Jr., Diane Ratliff all of Dublin, Dorothy (Mukhtar) Fullwood-Alam of Marietta and Calvin E. Green of St. Louis, Michigan; three sisters, Dorothy L. Stevens of Dublin, Annie B. Story and Ella Mae Holliman of Kissimmee, Florida; one brother, Oliver Edmond, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan; eighteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 209 Flanders Street in Dublin and from 6-7 pm on Friday at the Dudley Funeral Home.
