Memorial services for Mr. Jimmy L. Underwood, of Dublin, will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 3 PM in the C. D. Dudley Memorial Chapel at the Dudley Funeral Home, 617 East Jackson Street, Dublin. Reverend Richard Sheffield will officiate. Interment will on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 1 PM the Veterans Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, Georgia

Mr. Underwood was born on March 7, 1949, in Treutlen County, Georgia, to the late Ira Underwood, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frankie Underwood, and Ira Underwood, Jr. He passed away on July 25, 2017. Mr. Underwood attended Oconee High School in Dublin, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former employee of the Carl Vinson Medical Center in Dublin. Mr. Underwood was very active in the civil rights movement, and in community action.

Mr. Underwood leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Mrs. Grace Underwood, his sons, Brian Underwood, Gregory Underwood, his former wife, Mary Dell Chappell, two devoted friends, Reverend Richard Sheffield, Deacon Henry Lindsey, cousins, Ernest Robinson, and Arthur Robinson of Atlanta, one grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
