Funeral services for Ms. Frances Lewis, 49, of Dublin, will be held on Friday, December 30, at 11 AM at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1601 S Poplar Springs Church Road, Dublin, with the Rev. Dr. Willie Edmond officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ms. Lewis was born to her parents, Naomi Lewis and the late Alphonso (Spooky) Lewis, Sr. on December 17, 1962, in Port St. Joe, Florida. She attended her grandmothers school, Leila Gants Kindergarten Center, and elementary schools in Port St. Joe. Later she moved to Dublin, Georgia, and attended elementary and high school in Laurens County. She graduated from East Laurens High School in East Dublin in 1980. She then matriculated at North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville, Georgia, where she earned a diploma in cosmetology in 1982. After living for a period of time in Chicago, Illinois, and Fort Washington, Maryland, Frances returned to her family in Dublin. She was then employed as a paraprofessional at East Laurens Primary and Southwest Laurens Elementary Schools. One of joys of her life was working with "the babies" in the early childhood classes at Southwest Elementary where she was employed at her demise. Ms. Lewis was an active member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The Lord blessed her with the gift of singing which she used to praise God and to minister to others. She was a chartered member of the Voices of Joy Community Choir, Inc., and a diligent member of the Senior Choir of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Throughout her illness, Frances stayed committed to her faith in God and His will for her life. On December 26, 2011, God called Frances into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her father Alphonso (Spooky) Lewis, Sr., grandparents, Chester Gant, Sr., Leila Grant, Marie Lewis, John Lewis her aunt, Annie Lee Baker and uncle, Chester Gant, Jr. Many friends and family recall the memories of Frances. However, she will be especially remembered by her mother, Mrs. Naomi Lewis of Dublin her brothers, Alphonso Lewis of Dublin, Anthony Lewis of Atlanta, Harrell (Myra) Gant, Moultrie her sister, Linda Lee, Gainesville her uncles, Adrian (Mae Ella) Gant, Paul (Linda) Gant, Sr., Ernest (Gloria) Gant, all of Port St. Joe, Florida Moses (Waddie Ruth) Gant, Charleston, West Virginia, and Dr. Raymond (Lenora) Gant, Fort Washington, MD nieces and nephews, Alycia Gant, Selena Gant, and Alyxander Gant, all of Moultrie Shervonte (Tyrand) Flowers, Orlando, FL Matrice Lee, Gainesville, FL and Warren Lee, III, Tallahassee, FL. Other cousins,friends, and co-workers will also cherish the memories of Frances. The family is receiving friends at the home of Mrs. Naomi Lewis, 1000 Rutland Drive, Dublin, and on Thursday, December 29, from 7 until 8 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home.
