Funeral services for Ms. Ethel Whipple, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 11 AM at the Sandy Ford Baptist Church, 2614 US Highway 80 West in Dublin. Pastor Daryl Moore will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Moore Station Cemetery.

Sister Whipple was born on April 8, 1917, in Dublin, Georgia. She joined the Sandy Ford Baptist Church at an early age. She moved to Detroit, Michigan, and joined the Cosmopolitan Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and worked in the Pastors Aid Club under Reverend Hayes and Reverend Lawson. Later, when she moved to New York, she joined Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a member of the Flower Club, and the Pastors Aid Club where she served as vice president. After she returned home in 1986 to take care of her mother, she rejoined Sandy Ford Baptist Church and worked in Vacation Bible School and other activities until her health failed.

Her mother, Minnie Clark, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Johnnie (Sheneal) Hughes, her sister, Dorothy Sinclair, three nieces, Denise Jones, Phyllis Porter, and Arlette Shaw, all of California, cousins, Essie Holder, Ola Cummings, and Dorothy Pearson, Ollye (Bryant) Smith, Orvie Horton, Bettye Rozier, Richard (Doris) Hughes, Emmette Hughes, Aquilla Canady, along with special caretaker cousins, Theresa Hunter and Glenda Pearson, and many other special relatives and friends.
