Elois Travick

Funeral services for Mrs. Elois Holmes Travick, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at 11 AM at the graveside in the Valdosta Baptist Church Cemetery, 1975 Hwy 199 in East Dublin. Reverend John R. Sutton will deliver the eulogy.

Elois Holmes was born in Laurens County, Georgia, on April 17, 1924, to the late Tom Holmes and Mary Scott Holmes Moore. At an early age, Elois joined the Valdosta Missionary Baptist Church, where she served her time faithfully in various capacities. Elois was joined in matrimony to James Robert Travick, Sr., on June 28, 1940. To this marriage, three children were born, and they remained married for 63 years until his death.

Elois Travick was known as “Muncie”, Lois, or Sister Travick by some, and named “Momese” by her grands, and as she was called by other youth in the church. She was a faithful servant that did not mind working in any way within the church and served in many different church capacities while spreading LOVE and KINDNESS to all who came her way. She worked with the mission ministries at Liberty Hill and Valdosta Baptist Church WMBS Societies, music ministry, youth department, deaconess board, finance board (church treasurer), Bible School, Sunday School department, culinary board (kitchen committee), and many others. She had a compassion for singing and instilling singing in others. She was a member of the first choir at Valdosta Baptist Church organized by Rev. I. H. McClendon. In years past, she adored making homemade biscuits nightly. This was popular by her husband and grands. She retired from the Town and Country Beauty Salon after 50 years of service.

Her membership affiliations included the Fidelity Chapter #45 Order of Eastern Star Jurisdiction of Georgia. Under this organization, she was crowned a “Grand Pearl” in 2018. Mrs. Travick gained her wings on Sunday, 19, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, James Master Moore, siblings, Dorothy Holmes, Claxton Moore, Essie B. Moore Singleton, Lency Moore, Marie Moore, Julia W. Moore O’Neal, Talmadge Moore, Quinton Moore, and Essie Holmes Dudley, a son-in-law, John Brady Curry, Sr., sister-in-law, Annie Mae Travick, a niece, Sandra Moore, and nephews, Tim Moore, Raymond Moore, and Leo Dudley.

Elois will be remembered LOVINGLY by her children and family.
