Funeral services for Ms. Eddie Jean Charles King of Dublin will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Living Faith Baptist Church, 1333 Bailey Lane in Dublin. Pastor Jamie Paulk will officiate and Elder Prenis Edmond will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery in Dublin.

Ms. King who passed on Saturday, April 13, was born on July 8, 1953, to Hugo Charles Sr. and the late Essie Bell Charles Howard. She was preceded in death by her mother; two sisters, Dorothy Jean Charles and Teresa Freeman; brother, Quincy Charles; stepfather, Credolus Howard; and brother-in-law, CJ Melton.

Ms. King attended Oconee High School and was a 1971 graduate of Dublin High School. She further pursued her education at Heart of Georgia Technical Institute, where she graduated in 1988 as an LPN. Prior to returning to Dublin, she worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Newark, NJ, for an Army Recruiting Station in Jacksonville, NC and as a store manager for Pope’s Family Center in Coats, NC. Later, Ms. King worked faithfully as a nurse at Fairview Park Hospital for several years. She culminated her working years as a home health caregiver and companion, a position she continued right up into the last few weeks of her earthly life.

Ms. King was a born again Christian who was devoted to her service in God’s church. During her early adult years, she served faithfully as a member of Shiloh Apostolic Church in Jacksonville, NC. Locally, she joined Jackson Chapel C.M.E. Church where she would serve as a stewardess, treasurer and choir member.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Pastor James Willie (Carol) Scott Jr. of Dublin and Jason Lorenzo (Lillie) King of Augusta; one daughter, Naomi Elisabeth (Jermaine) King of Dublin; father, Hugo (Vera) Charles Sr.; sisters, Bobbie Jean Charles Melton, Belinda (Michael) Waters, JoAnn McBride and Faye McBride; brothers Hubert (Patricia) Charles, Hugo Charles Jr., Otha (Kery) Charles, Mervin Charles, Morris Charles and Alfred (Retha) Flanders; aunt, Carolyn Brown; grandchildren she deeply loved and adored, James “Tre” Scott III, Josiah King, Jarius King, Ja’Essence King, Joshua King, Aubree King, Neikia Brown and Dy’lon Tolin; godchildren, Staff Sgt. Jarvis Hollingsworth and Angelia (Walter) Coley; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close friends, church family and acquaintances.

The family will receive friends at 509 Alabama Street in Dublin, and on Wednesday, April 17, from 6-7 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home.
