Funeral services for Mr. Derrick Jerome Smith of Dublin will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2 PM at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 4195 US Highway 80 West in Montrose. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Clarence Durham Thomas will officiate.

Mr. Smith who passed on November 17, 2013, was born on December 25, 1973, to the late, Mr. and Mrs. James and Christine Thomas Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Smith; grandmother, Ida Thomas and a sister-in-law, Sheila Smith. He attended Dublin High School and was employed with Bassett Furniture for many years.

He is survived by his fiance', Dorothy Nelson of Dublin; one beloved son, Derrick (D'Asia) Watson of Dublin; devoted stepchildren whom he loved as his own, Marci (Aric) Forest and Laquisha Blash of Dublin; three brothers, James (Barbara) Smith of Atlanta, Curtis (Belinda) Smith and Donovon (Janice) Smith of Dublin; three sisters, Lucy Mae (Ken) Wilcox of McRae, Mary Lucinola Smith of Atlanta, and Diane (James) Bennett of Milan; four grandchildren, Zay, Zanila, Aric, and Antaneisha all of Dublin; one special uncle, Daniel (Doris) Smith of Macon; aunts, Mary Dean Smith of Glenwood, Hazel Thomas amd Gladys Thomas of Montrose and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends including Stacy Brown.

The family will receive friends at 210 Prince Street in Dublin.
